a collection of gourds

Gourds of all types have been used for many centuries. Remains of gourds have been found in the tombs of Egypt. During ancient times, most gourds were used as utensils and storage containers. They are related to melons, squash, pumpkins and cucumbers, all members of the cucumber family. More recently gourds have been used decoratively they can be painted, carved or pyrographed. This page shows some designs that I have applied on a selection of gourds with the medium of pyrography and acrylic paint.
